  • Composites Manufacturing/ Lay-Up Technician

    We are seeking several experienced composite manufacturing technicians to help us build prototypes of a new, advanced aircraft. Candidates will work closely with our engineering team and will perform a wide variety of hands-on composite fabrication and assembly tasks in a fast-paced R&D environment. We are a small company and this position is responsible for a wide variety of composite manufacturing tasks including tooling fabrication, tool prep for lay-up, hand lay-up of pre-preg composite material using a variety of techniques and processes, vacuum bagging, precision trimming, fixturing and bonding, and general assembly.   

    Requirements

          • High school diploma or equivalent experience
          • Minimum of three years composites lay-up, bonding, or assembly experience
          • Able to read and understand composite engineering drawings and ply schedules including notes and tolerances
          • Strong craftsmanship skills and experience with various types of hand tools and hand-held power tools
          • Broad experience with a wide variety of epoxy resin systems, pre-preg materials, woven and unidirectional carbon fiber, fiberglass, structural adhesives, syntactic fillers, tooling boards and honeycomb and foam core.
          • Composite bonding experience with a variety of adhesive systems; good understanding of the bonding process and surface preparation
          • Extreme attention to detail and continual pursuit of perfection
          • Excellent listening and communication skills
          • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
          • Strong team player

    Desired Skills

          • Substantial out of autoclave pre-preg processing experience
          • RTM or VARTM experience
          • Bladder or compression molding lay-up experience
          • Autoclave/oven operating experience including software set-up and recipe creation/editing
          • Experience with ply-cutting equipment and nesting software
          • Ability/experience operating a laser projector during pre-preg lay-up
          • Ability/experience operating a laser tracker for part validation or fixture set-up
          • Significant tooling experience
          • Ability to operate a forklift

  • Electronics Technician: Avionics Systems

    We are currently seeking an avionics technician with experience assembling, integrating, and testing avionics, to join our software and avionics group. The position will require work on components such as flight computers, avionics, servo actuators, cabling, and test fixtures. The candidate must be able to create, install, and maintain electrical assemblies using typical industry/FAA methods, while following assembly procedures and filling out records and logs.



    Requirements

          • Minimum of a high school diploma with three or more years experience as a technician or aviation mechanic installing aircraft electronics and systems
          • Working knowledge of basic electronics
          • Must be able to create, form and install wiring and systems into platforms from drawings
          • Strong soldering and mechanical assembly skills
          • Understanding and use of basic electronics tools (Oscilloscope, DMM, crimpers, basic shop equipment, etc)
          • Strong background in troubleshooting and repair of wiring and avionics systems
          • Able to select and manage parts from a BOM, assemble boards and test
          • Good communication, problem solving and organizational skills
          • Working knowledge of basic computer applications

    Desired Skills

          • Electronics Associate degree, military training or above
          • Experience with Altium Designer or equivalent schematic/drawing tools
          • Experience with electromechanical systems and sensors (servos, motors, shaft encoders)

  • Composite Manufacturing and Tooling Engineer

    We are looking for a “hands on” composites manufacturing and design person. This individual will be responsible for creating tooling and supporting the manufacture of composite parts and assemblies for a prototype aircraft.

    Responsibilities:

          • Design tooling to manufacture composite aircraft structural components and assemblies.
          • Create composite laminate drawings, lay-up procedures and manufacturing documentation.
          • Advise and assist design engineers regarding composite design best practices and manufacturing methodology.
          • Work with vendors and in-house machinists/technicians to source material, tooling, fixtures and parts.

    Requirements:

          • Experience with structural composites tooling design and manufacture, including prototype “soft” tooling and low rate production tooling (composite and metallic). Ideal candidate will have extensive experience with a wide variety of aerospace composite tooling materials and manufacturing methodologies.
          • Familiarity with the theory and methodology of composites manufacturing and be able to apply materials and process knowledge to ensure part quality and meet build schedule.
          • Familiarity with general composite lay-up rules of thumb and out of autoclave processes.
          • Experience with composite to metallic secondary bonding methods and the design and construction of assembly fixtures and secondary bonding fixtures.
          • Familiarity with hand lay-up, vacuum bagging, compression molding, bladder molding, and lost mandrel composite manufacturing.
          • Experience with metrology, part inspection, and assembly tool alignment a plus.
          • 3 to 5 years of CAD experience, including surfacing. SolidWorks experience a plus.
          • Must be able to work in a “hands-on” environment assisting manufacturing as well as doing design work at a desk.
          • Must be able to read and comprehend drawings and have experience with ASME Y14.5.
          • Must be able to work and thrive in a fast paced R&D environment with aggressive schedules and changing requirements.
          • Must have excellent computer skills (Mac OS and Windows).
          • Must possess good English communication skills.
          • Ability to lift tools and parts up to 50 lbs.
