  • Power Electronics Engineer

    We are currently looking for a Power Electronics Engineer. You will work in a team developing propulsion systems for an electric aircraft, and would be responsible for developing power electronics assemblies, such as high power density controllers for brushless permanent magnet motors, DC/DC converters, and other weight-optimized power electronics.

    Within 3 months, you’ll:

          • Learn about the aircraft electronics architecture and hardware development processes
          • Participate in the development and test of high power weight-optimized motor controllers and DC/DC converters
          • Perform schematic capture, PCB layout, implement control algorithms and performance validation testing at the power electronics and propulsion system levels

    Within 6 months, you’ll:

          • Take ownership of power electronics concept development, architecture trade studies, requirements development, detailed performance analysis, optimization and component specification
          • Make recommendations to continually improve our processes

    Required:

          • PhD with two years experience, MSEE degree with at least four years of experience, or a BSEE/BSME degree with at least eight years of experience
          • Prior experience developing multi-kilowatt power electronics
          • Experience designing for and troubleshooting EMI/EMC related issues
          • A good grasp of analog and digital hardware development and validation techniques
          • Ability to model, simulate and optimize performance
          • Great interpersonal skills
          • Excellent oral and written communication skills

    Desired:

          • Familiarity with DO-160/DO-254 certification and aerospace development best practices and standards
          • Experience with weight minimization is strongly desired
          • Experience developing thermal management approaches for power electronics
          • Familiarity with the latest SiC and GaN power electronic devices
          • Experience writing and executing test procedures for design validation and qualification
          • Familiarity with MIL-STD-461

You will help build the world’s best, and most highly-automated software development environment. You will enable a small group of engineers to quickly develop high-quality, well-tested software, for a variety of fly-by-wire avionics platforms.

    Responsibilities:

          • Architect and implement the core C++ application used to perform hardware-in-the-loop testing of flight critical software.
          • Work closely with the development team to gather requirements and build a tool that can support hundreds of hours of real-time hardware-in-the-loop tests each week
          • Develop tested, high quality and reliable software

    Required:

          • BS/MS/PhD in CS or EE or equivalent, with 3+ years of relevant experience
          • Proficiency in C and C++11 or later
          • Experience with Python or other scripting languages
          • Experience with real-time Linux and writing performance code
          • Experience with highly automated software development processes and modern tools (git, JIRA, continuous integration, etc.)

    Desired:

          • Passionate about aviation and the future of transportation
          • Data serialization formats such as protobuf
          • Experience automating data analysis and data visualization in Matlab or Python

          • Build out a continuous integration/continuous delivery pipeline used for avionics software development

    Required:

          • Define and implement a validation strategy, optimized across vehicle-level, Hardware-in-the-Loop, Software-in-the-Loop, and simulation systems.
          • Own the design and implementation of validation systems.
          • Work with the System Engineering and Embedded Software teams to define test requirements and implement test procedures.
          • Drive validation and Software Quality Assurance release activities.
          • Be able to generate test results and coverage reports, and other required artifacts for certification activities.

    Required:

          • BS/MS in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or equivalent
          • Excellent leadership, project management, and interpersonal skills
          • 5+ years experience in simulation, testing, and validation of complex dynamic systems
          • Proficient in Python, familiar with C/C++ embedded software development

    We are currently seeking an aircraft technician to support aircraft integration, maintenance, operation, modification, and repair of a prototype electric aircraft. You will work closely with engineers to install systems and troubleshoot issues. You're a self-starter, detail-oriented, and work well both independently, and in groups.

    Required:

          • Minimum 3 years industry experience
          • Ability to work closely with engineers during prototype integration and testing
          • Wire harness fabrication and repair
          • Familiarity with aerospace wiring harness tools/equipment and best practices
          • Ability to read and interpret harness drawings for harness fabrication and system troubleshooting
          • Experience routing and installing wiring harnesses on aircraft
          • Works well independently and in teams
          • Fluent with mechanical assembly procedures
          • Willing to travel with the aircraft to support ground and flight testing

    Desired:

          • Experience working in an R&D prototype aircraft development environment
          • Familiar with composite aircraft and best practices
          • A&P license
          • Familiar with NAVAIR 01-1A-505−1, AC43.13-1B, NASA-STD 8739.X, or equivalent
